The PACKMACHINE shrink tunnels represent the most classic and efficient solution to package products with shrink film. Their operation is simple but extremely effective: inserting a packaged product into the oven causes a reaction of the hot air on the transparent film, making it shrink and thus adhere perfectly to the contents of the package.

The tunnels guarantee an impeccable result: the packages are sealed, are practical and also pleasant to see since a shiny, soft film is used. The shrink film is made of polyolefin, which differs from PVC for its higher resistance to tearing once processed, and for the decreased impact on energy and the environment: when sealing, the polyolefin does not generate toxic fumes.

Shrink tunnels are temperature controlled environments used to tighten shrink film that has been applied by a shrink wrapper around products. Conveyor systems move packages through the oven, allowing for an even application of heat. Conveyors are made from either large rollers or Teflon mesh belts for added stability.

Shrink tunnels are available in single and dual chamber formats. Single chamber shrink tunnels are perfect for lower packaging volumes that run a lower pack speeds. Dual Shrink Tunnels are great for faster packaging speeds. Allowing for a more controlled shrink with variable chamber temperatures.

What Are Heat Tunnels For Shrink Packaging?

A shrink tunnel (also commonly known as a heat tunnel) is a metal tunnel that sits above or is built around a conveyor, often being fed from a heat-sealing machine.

The tunnel has a heating element that heats the film as they move through the machine. Your products are conveyed through the tunnel and are cloaked with loosely fitting shrink film.

When your products move past the heating elements, the film shrinks uniformly around the items as they are exposed to the heat.
